Lesson of the day #1 - Cherish the life

Good Morning.

This is my first blog post.

After a while, I decided to make a blog simply because there are some things that twitter and path can not accomodate, and tumblr makes me confuse thanks to my tiny frontal lobe. So, here is my blog, a place where I can say what I wanna say, because unfortunately, I like to analyze things and have opinions about many things although sometimes it's cynical and often subjectives.

Today I learned that bad tradition is still worshipped although it's proven lethally dangerous and simply stupid. Just because people have been doing it for years, I don't think it should be continued. Today another clash happened between a few students of SMAN 70 and SMAN 6 Jakarta and a student of SMAN 6 died in result. Full information is in here .

This kid, AS, is a freshman, who (from what I've heard) happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was just eating Gultik (Gulai Tikungan, often jokingly mistaken as Gulai Tikus, which is a famous street dish in Jalan Mahakam/Bulungan) for crying out loud! Can you really imagine what his parents would feel? He went to school in the morning to do the exam (it's exam season in SMAN 6), and went back home in a coffin?

This kid is somebody's son, the most precious thing to his parents, a joy to his friends and family, and he is gone because of some egocentric wrongdoings of other kids that thought they do such heroic acts of defending the pride of their own school and community (which i simply put is stupid). It is not only the kid who had gone, his dreams, his future, his parent's whole life and soul are gone with him too. How is any trial and maybe some money would ever replace those?

Maybe the clash is a complicated matter for whoever concerned to this case. Maybe there's a provocateur behind all this clash, who knows. I just hope that after several years of never ending clash, there would be freshmen from both schools who smart enough (or chicken enough) to avoid this. I hope the seniors are mature enough not to hold grudges and provoke their juniors anymore. Enough is enough!

These kids maybe proud they had done heroic acts defending the pride of their school or friends through these never ending clashes, but the sad truth is, NO ONE CARES what you have done in high school when you finally in college!
So, kids, have fun regretting things and self blaming, you've had your chance. (And btw, they are not kids anymore, some of them ride motorcycle to school and have IDs.)

I always think high school is a phase when you're experiencing first love, making happy memories with best friends, trying out new things, experiencing bad break ups, learning many things, and making the most out of your brain and heart. Not fighting around after school as a monthly habit and randomly stabbing people on the chest and run away with it. Life is more than that. YOUR LIFE IS LONGER THAN 3 YEARS IN HIGH SCHOOL.

We often value things when it's already gone. Hope we are not too late cherish life before it's taken from us.

I condole the victim, I wish his deeds and soul to be accepted by God and his family to gain strengths. Thoughts and prays are with him.

Lots of love,
